Book Corner - Supernatural Childbirth

Simon and myself attended a talk in Church about "Experiencing God in Pregnancy" and were educated that childbirth can be a pain-free process. However, we got a bit confused as we are first-time parents and did not know whether to make our decisions regarding the birth process or rely on our gynae's expert opinion.

Later, our friend Anne gave us this book for our Christmas present. Reading it really gave me a lot of peace as the author, Jackie does not tell us to go against medical advice but to heed it! We just have to re-affirm and claim God's Promises in our hearts that when we rest in His Peace, the labour will be an easy one.

1 Timothy 2:15 "Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety."

What's this book about?
"Supernatural childbirth is a practical and realistic look at Gods promises for conception, pregnancy and delivery. This is not pie-in-the-sky this is a personal testimony of how one couple overcame defeat and triumphed in Gods plan."

It is a thin and easy-to-carry book that is a good read on the train or while waiting for people.

Book Corner- Praying for Your Unborn Child

This book came as a wedding gift from teenagers! Unbelievable right? We received this gift from the CAPPERS- the Wesley Children's Prayer ministry teenagers! So was it a prophetic message for us? Some might say so! =)
Later, we found out that a parent helped them to select the book. It must be God's Timing since we got pregnant about 3 months after our wedding.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What's this book about?
What might happen if pregnant mothers and expectant fathers learned to pray for their baby - even before its birth? Francis and Judith MacNutt believe that if enough couples start praying for their unborn child a gentle revolution will occur, and that prayer will have a profound effect on the unborn child's future physical and spiritual well-being. Sharing their conviction that 'Jesus really wants to consecrate your child, to fill him with love and bring him into his Father's family', the authors give examples of the wondrous difference that prayer makes. They also draw on medical evidence that supports their view.
I believe every Christian mum should know the spiritual aspects of pregnancy and God's blessing to her. The good thing about this book is that it also addresses many infertility problems and miscarriages women experience these days and let them know that there is freedom from that mental and spiritual bondage!
What's in a name? -Baby Foo's name
From Pastor Flower:
You know, in John Wesley's theology there are two types of grace: Prevenient Grace and Saving Grace
The first Xi (dawn) 曦恩 reflects more of prevenient grace - i.e. The sun was given freely to all humanity by our creator God
Prevenient grace is divine grace which precedes human decision. It exists prior to and without reference to anything humans may have done.The United Methodist Book of Discipline (2004) defines prevenient grace as, "...the divine love that surrounds all humanity and precedes any and all of our conscious impulses. This grace prompts our first wish to please God, our first glimmer of understanding concerning God's will, and our 'first slight transient conviction' of having sinned against God. God's grace also awakens in us an earnest longing for deliverance from sin and death and moves us toward repentance and faith."[2]
John Wesley believes that God's prevenient grace will ultimately lead sinners to know Christ, repent and receive God's SAVING GRACE - that which comes through faith in Jesus Christ.
So the second Xi (Cherish) En 惜恩, reflects more of saving grace. It speaks of the human heart's own choice to give thanks for the grace received - where one is personally grateful for the salvific grace of God :)
And so our daughter will be called 惜恩. =)
