This is bad season for flat-searchers. HDB new Walk-In-Selection flats are non-existent- all fully booked or Chinese quota full. Even more recently, they have pulled Seng Kang, Punggol and Hougang flats off the shelf. The situation is worse now.
Flat-buyers like me are forced to look at re-sale flats.
The good thing about re-sale flats is that you can view the place and they are quite a bit bigger as compared to the new flats.
Betty, our agent, trotted with us through Leng Kong Tiga. A 5-room flat there seemed quite appealing to us...but costs way above our budget. We had to shrug it off and move on.
We next combed the Serangoon region. Last Friday, there was a 4A-style flat next to Serangoon MRT station. It was quite pricey but we were willing to see how far we can negotiate. As things turned out, the seller was not too serious about selling the flat. So the search goes on.
Tuesday night saw us step in and out of 5 flats- averaging 15 minutes each. Felt like Singapore crazy sale or something. Something promising showed up on Wed evening.
Blk 210 Serangoon Central, Level 3, corner unit, 88 Square Meters. - could this be it?
Both Simon and myself kinda felt comfy in the place. We also walked round the neighbourhood and really liked what we saw. This would be the 10th flat we are viewing. I've been going to Serangoon after work everyday, it is almost like I moved there already!
Tonight, we are going to talk to the flat owners. Lots of questions are running through my head like what if they refuse negotiations? what if someone else offers a higher price? what if we can't repair the spalling toilet ceiling? What if they don't do a lift-upgrade for that place? My prayer would be that God will affirm that this is going to be OUR HOME. Somehow, a way to see His affirmation is probably peace in our hearts and that the transaction will be smooth.
We'll see how it goes. Or the hunt will continue.
